According to a Breitbart exclusive, House Administration Committee Chair Bryan Steil and House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer have given Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg until Thursday to appear before three congressional panels for a transcribed interview.
Steil chairs one of three congressional committees that demanded Bragg appear for a transcribed interview with congressional investigators to explain his reasoning in the looming indictment of former President Donald Trump. The other two committees are the House Judiciary Committee, chaired by Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) and the House Oversight Committee, chaired by Rep. James Comer (R-KY). Steil was in town this week for the House GOP retreat, and sat down for an exclusive interview with Breitbart News to lay out the details of the unfolding investigation into Bragg.
“The House Administration Committee has jurisdiction over federal election law,” Steil told Breitbart News. “So we’re working with Chairman Comer and Chairman Jordan.” I believe the question that must be addressed is: Is this a political move? When you consider that previous prosecutors reviewed this and ultimately decided not to prosecute, and he previously decided he wasn’t going to move forward and now he is, what changed? “The only thing that has changed is that President Trump has announced his intention to run for reelection,” he told breitbart.
“There are clear questions that I believe need to be answered about whether there is a misuse of federal funds that are supposed to be used to do things like reduce crime but are instead being repurposed for political purposes,” he added.
The Republican committee chairs sent the letter to Alvin Bragg, requesting communications, documents, and testimony from him in connection with his investigation into Trump’s former lawyer’s $130,000 payment to adult film actress Stormy Daniels to buy her silence about a 2006 sexual encounter she claimed she had with Trump.
